Academic Support at a Library in Cuenca

This is a public library that offers scholarly support services to schools in the area. In the morning high-school students come to do research on the library's computers and in the afternoon primary school children attend. Here, they work on their homework and school projects. Because the staff is so small (usually consisting of just one person!) the center is in great need of volunteer support.

Range of tasks:
 Volunteers are needed to provide homework help and subject tutoring, especially in English. Volunteers also help maintain the library, keep the facilities need and manage the students during computer time. Some students need specific attention because of family or social problems, so volunteers with a background in social work are welcome.

 One week minimum, longer preferred

 Basic to low intermediate at least

 We can help you arrange accommodation in Quito either with a local host family or in a hostel or apartment. Costs can vary depending on the type of accommodation chosen - homestay, hostel, hotel or shared apartment. Contact us for more information.
