Project Description: |
CENIT is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that helps around 1,000 working children (especially working girls) and their families overcome grinding poverty and improve their quality of lives through education and job training, nutrition programs, health and social services, psychological help and recreation. The programs that they undertake include;

Range of Tasks: |
The program that volunteers will be able to assist with depends on their qualifications, experience, Spanish ability and time commitment, as the requirements of volunteers for each project vary. With CENIT volunteers can develop a program that best suits their interests and skills.
The main tasks that volunteers undertake include teaching English, leading activities for the children and providing teacher support. Those with an advanced level of Spanish or more specific qualifications can assist in the medical centre, lead workshops or give classes. Volunteers are required to have a professional attitude, be flexible and culturally sensitive |
Time Committment: |
2 months minimum. Some projects require a longer time commitment |
Skills required: |
Willingness to work with children |
Schedule: |
Programs run in the morning and the afternoon. Volunteers can study Spanish for half the day and work for the other half. |
Donation: |
Volunteers are asked to make $75 contribution to the administration and running costs of the organization. |
