Micro enterprise for the women of Bua de los Tsa'chila - Cost $2000.00 |
A group of women in the Tsa'chila community of Bua are receiving training in sewing and the creation of handicrafts. They are seeking funding to buy a loom for weaving their traditional fabrics and a sowing machine to produce bags and other items for sale. Yanapuma is proposing that the funding be in the form of a micro-loan to the group, repayable from the income they generate. We will also help them with a business plan and the skills necessary to successfully run their enterprise. The repayments will be used by Yanapuma to offer further loans for small enterprise development in this and other communities. |

Micro-enterprise for women in Estero de Plátano - Cost $250.00 |
A group of women in Estero de Plátano on the Pacific coast of Ecuador are trying to start a small beach-side food stall to sell local fare to day-visitors to boost their meagre incomes. Yanapuma seeks to help them by buying some basic supplies - silverware, a blender, a plastic table and chairs, etc, to help them get going. We see this as a vital step for these women in the development of a locally-owned business that will benefit their families and the community in general. Yanapuma will support them with the necessary training to run and manage a small enterprise. Estero de Platano |

New Water System for Estero de Plátano - Cost $750.00 |
| Yanapuma Foundation is collaborating with a local NGO called Agua Muisne to install a UV water filter for the community of Estero de Plátano. Finding a solution to the problem of contaminated drinking water has been a priority for the community due to the high rate of water-borne illnesses. The water system has capacity to produce up to 1000 liters of water per hour and will be sold for 25 cents for a 20-liter jug (the current market price is 1.50 for the same quantity). Hence it will both provide solutions to water-borne illnesses and provide an alternative source of income for community projects. Yanapuma foundation is seeking $750 to split material purchase costs with the Agua Muisne Foundation. The community itself will raise $200 and provide construction materials and hands on work time. |

Training farmers in Bua to use chemicals safely and responsibly: Cost $250.00 |
Our aim eventually is to realize a more sustainable and chemical-free form of agriclture with the Tsa'chila. Currently they use chemicals without understanding the health risks and damage to the environment that result from their actions (mixing chemicals with their hands, not wearing protection, and rinsing out containers directly in the rivers for example). It is vital that we start to educate them in the safe use of chemicals. Learn more about Bua. |

Reproductive and sexual education workshops for Estero de Plátano - Cost $150.00 |
| Yanapuma Foundation seeks to collaborate with Prevensud; a local Quito based sexual and reproductive education promotion organization. To begin processes of raising awareness of condom usage, gender rights, HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases we will be piloting dynamic and educational workshops with Prevensud in the community of Estero de Plátano. The root of many social problems in this community is based around the discrimination of women and the lack of safe sex knowledge. This project will serve as an important first step towards forming sexual education promoters in the community. To cover transportation and printing costs for 3 workshops, we are looking for $150. |
