1. What were the main tasks you undertook at the project? Did you have any prior experience or knowledge that helped you with these?

The main tasks for me where all the tasks a midwife have in a hospital. I did pretty much everything. Labour, check up for the pregnant women, first care by a baby, aborts. For me this was my last internship so I had a lot of experience and knowledge and that is really important.

1. Was the explanation and support you received from the organisation adequate to ensure you could carry out your work successfully? If not please explain why.

1. Would you recommend working with this organisation to other volunteers? What are the main areas of skills and interests that volunteers need for this work? Please give reasons.

I will recommend this organisation to medical students, nurses or midwifes. It´s important that you can work on your own, that you can work with stress and that you like working in a hospital where you don´t have everything you´re used to. Sometimes you need sterile gloves but they aren´t there, so you have to think about another solution.

1. Was the communication and support you received from Yanapuma, before and during your time volunteering adequate? Please comment on the initial orientation session, showing you to your site and communication throughout.  If not, please specify why and how it could be improved.

The support we got from Yanapuma was really good.

I did my volunteering in Hospital Delfina Torres the Concha. It was a really good experience, because they gave me a lot of freedom. I worked 4 months in the area for gynecology and obstetrics. I could do everything that I wanted to do en to learn. Because this hospital is a public hospital there always are a lot of patients but there isn´t enough material for all the patients. So you have to be creative and have to think of other solutions for a problem.
You can see a lot of pathology in the hospital, this makes it very interesting and it´s a really good experience.
I will recommend this hospital when you have to do your internship or when you  just like to work.
