A donation of $120 from former intern Adam Wright was passed on to the project Kamak Maki in Chichicorumi. The donation was the result of the sale of photographs from an exhibition of Adam's time there. |

Two Dell laptops were donated by Stephen Muther to the school in the community of Estero de Plátano on the Pacific coast. Previously the school had no computer facilities. |

$4000 in donations from an anonymous source was received in February and March this year that were to be used for the organizational development and planning of the foundation as well as to provide continuing funding for our projects in Bua. |

A donation of £750 ($1100) from the Ryklow Trust was received in March for our ongoing work in Bua to promote sustainable agriculture and production of organic cacao production. |

Westpoint Grey Academy from Vancouver Canada brought a donation of $2000 towards the construction of a new classroom and library for the school in Puca Chicta where a school group worked in March 2009. |

Volunteer Laure Sandoz from Switzerland brought a donation of $1500 to donate to the construction of a new classroom in the school at Puca Chicta where she taught English. |

Our Christmas appeal raised enough money to sponsor 7 of the children of Estero de Plátano to study at secondary level in 2009. We will seek funding during this year to make this a permanent program, adding 2 or 3 new children each year for the 6 years of study. |

Former intern Brittany Mitchell raised funds in the office she is working in towards the creation of the cacao nursery in Bua. She raised $340.00! |

The grandmother of former intern Michelle Stoler made a second donation, this time for $250.00 towards the creation of a nursery for cacao production in Bua. |

Anonymous donations from a private philanthropist in the US totaling $5000 were received in November and December. These funds will be used to strengthen the organizational capacity of Yanapuma and to develop project planning strategies that will allow us to better carry out our work in the indigenous and marginalized communities that we are involved with. |

The grandmother of Michelle Stoler, an intern who worked with us during the summer was so impressed by Michelle´s stories that she made and sold knitwear to provide $500 for funds for the community of Bua. |

The US organization Thinking Beyond Borders provided $2000 in funding for the construction of the ecological toilets in Bua. They came with 16 volunteers who worked for a month on construction in Bua. |

The Portland Oregon branch of Engineers Without Borders donated $4000 towards materials for the construction of the baños ecologicos in Bua. They also were involved in the design and actual construction, several engineers spending their annual leave sweating and swatting insects in the humid tropics to bring the project to fruition. |

Meander, a Dutch school raised nearly $13000 for the renovation of the defunct healthcare center in Bua de los Tsachila, and for training workshops for local community members in the fields of nutrition, hygiene, first-aid, etc. The work will start in 2009. |

Brian Zinn and Pauline Smit, after visiting Bua on our Cultural Exchange Program donated $800, half to be used for Bua and the other half for another community. |

| Our Christmas Appeal raised
over $1100.00. As of the end of January, just over $800 of this had been
spent on educational supplies for the school. The rest will be spent on
textbooks when the teachers have decided which ones will be the best to
purchase. An official hand over of the donation took place on Saturday
26 January attended by our Project's Director, Azalia Cruz, and our
full-time representative in the community, Giovanni Toapanta. Also
present was the governor of the Tsachila, representatives from the local
education department, Corp Ecuador, who built the new classrooms,
representatives of the government and various indigenous organizations
and local politicians. |

A Dutch volunteer
teaching English in the school of Puka Chicta near Chichicorumi for 6
months raised funds for the school from friends and family before
arriving in Ecuador. In total she spent nearly $2400.00 on educational
and other materials for the school of Puka Chicta as well as buying
textbooks for the school of Wachimak. |

A Dutch volunteer working in the daycare center
Don Soto for 3 weeks in September did a fundraiser before leaving
Holland and raised over $1600.00 for the center. Half of this was spent
on materials and toys, while the other half will go towards training by
an educational psychologist for staff and teachers that will enable them
to work with the children more effectively. |

A donation of $1000.00 from
Albyn School in the UK, from a group of schoolgirls who came through
Outlook Expeditions of Wales will be split, 60% going to the school of
Guale, near Puerto Lopez in the province of Manabi to buy essential
school supplies. The other 40% will go towards the projects currently
being undertaken by Yanapuma. |

An anonymous and generous personal donation of $500.00 in June will go towards making up
the shortfall in the Baños Ecologicos project in Bua
de los Tsachila. It will go towards educational and general materials
costs associated with the construction, Whatever is left over will go
towards the costs of training the community of Wachimak in the various
aspects of tourism management during July. |

A donation of 450 pounds sterling from the 12th
Midlothian cub scouts in Edinburgh, Scotland is enabling us to carry out
a pilot project to construct 3 ecological toilets with the aid of volunteers in the community of Bua de los
Tsachila from the 9th to the 25th of July, 2007. These ecological, dry
toilets will provide an effective, environmentally sound and sanitary
method of disposing of human waste in a community without piped water.
We will also carry out an educational campaign within the local school
and community in order to raise awareness of the benefits of this
system. If successful we will seek funding to extend this project to the
rest of the 130 families of the community of Bua. Click here to learn about our

A donation of $1000.00 from Skon daycare center in the Netherlands,
passed to us through Moving Ecuador allowed us to
construct this outdoor play center for the daycare center of the barrio
La Union in the south of Quito. Staff joined parents of the children on
Sunday 22 April to put together the play train in the play ground of the

Our Christmas appeal for the isolated rainforest community of Wachimak, was a great success. We surpassed
our targer of $400, receiving more than $600 from friends and
supporters. We took them educational materials, notebooks and pens, anti parasite
medication, and T shirts and shorts for the 40 or so children of
the community. .
