I worked
for Ninez y Vida as part of a work study requirement through my
university. I soon found however, that is impossible to work there
without it becoming much more than to fulfill a simple requirement.
There are 5 different centers you can choose to work at, and the
orientation that familiarizes you with them is extremely helpful and
informative. It might be a bit confusing, however, only in the sense
that it becomes hard to choose just one as your place of service! The
staff of the organization is friendly and more than willing to answer
any questions you might have, or even just to sit down and have a
conversation with you. They are flexible and willing to work with you on
any program requirements you might have. Their dedication to the
children they work with and their deep caring is heart warming to see.
And it is not hard to understand why they care so much. They children of
Ninez y Vida are all beautiful, and it is exciting to see them develop
as you become their friend and play beside them each day. I ended up
staying with my center a month longer than was required because I
enjoyed being with these little people so much. These, I think, are the
real "Latin lovers" who will go ahead and steal your heart if you are
not careful.
Jess.
